The requirements of this project were to produce a working p5.js sketch, a thumbnail graphic, an instructional text, and an accompanying pitch document. Together these tasks demonstrated: an understanding of the foundations of computer programming, the ability to apply programming principles to respond to a plausible client brief, and the ability to present a convincing explanation for the creative choices taken in response to the brief.

The Creative Coding @ The Lanes brief was to develop an interactive creative coding sketch for exhibition in one of three public laneways in Fortitude Valley: Winn Lane, California Lane, or Bakery Lane. The interactive sketch needed to interest and engage visitors to the lane, and was to be suitable for viewing by a broad public audience including children. The sketch was to be exhibited in one of three Creative Coding Cabinets: Huey (the arty cabinet), Dewey (the data cabinet), or Louie (the play cabinet). I chose Louis, which was suited to active game-like or playful interactions. Inputs were a 4-way joystick and 3 arcade buttons.

Brigitte, this submission demonstrates a good understanding of coding concepts and uses these to achieve a really cool interaction. Great use of states and classes. Code is well structured and commented. Creative outcomes are clear in the core interaction - I was really interested in this idea. Aesthetic outcomes are also well presented and consistent. Great work. Written component is well presented and evidences a strong design vocabulary. Excellent justification of creative decisions throughout. Images are used to strong effect. Creative influences are well considered and relate to your design with some insight. I'd have liked to see more examination of the design goals of these influences - this might have been helpful in your own creative process.Excellent work overall.
